HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's volleyball team lost in three sets to visiting Wellesley College on Thursday evening at Bridges Gymnasium in Henniker, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 'Grims nearly shocked the Blue in the second set, going up 23-15 in a run that included a 7-0 rally behind the serving of NEC senior middle-blocker Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii). Down 24-19 and facing set point, Wellesley reeled off seven straight rallies off the serve of sophomore libero Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.), winning in extras 26-24.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC sophomore outside hitter Lily-Anne Heywood (Derry, N.H.) tallied a team high ten digs with five kills on the night, tacking on one service ace.
- Wellesley first year outside hitter Kate Giang (Corte Madera, Calif.) was a force with 12 kills, five service aces and five digs.
- Sampson tallied seven total blocks on the night, continuing to build on her NEC career record.
- Wellesley first year outside hitter Mary Beeler (Menlo Park, Calif.) filled the stat line with seven aces, nine digs and four kills.
- NEC junior outside hitter Savannah Pilialoha (Waipahu, Hawaii) added five kills and six digs.
