HENNIKER, N.H. – Freshman centerfielder / shortstop
Grace Giesler (La Mirada, Calif.) of the New England College softball team has been voted to the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Team in an announcement by the association on Friday.
Giesler was voted All-NFCA Division III Region I Second Team. The freshman had already earned a plethora of honors this season, after an outstanding rookie campaign that saw her earn co-Player of the Year of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) and NECC Rookie of the Year accolades, as well as All-Conference and All-Tournament Team recognition.
The first-year centerfielder hit .415 in 38 games this year with two home runs, 24 runs batted in, six doubles, eleven triples and 16 stolen bases. She was named NECC Rookie of the Week four times. As of press time, Giesler's eleven triples were tied for second in the nation, setting an NEC single-season school record.
Giesler becomes the second Pilgrim in two years to earn all-region honors, joining former NEC legend
Daelyn Ross (Freeport, N.Y.) who was named to the team last year.
The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region.
Congratulations to Grace and her teammates on a great season.
