New England College Athletics Holds 2022-2023 Awards Night
HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College athletics department honored their outstanding student-athletes and Lily Geber during their 2022-2023 Awards Night Ceremony at the Putnam Center in Henniker, New Hampshire on Monday evening.

Current NEC student-athletes, coaches and staff attended, as well as New England College President Wayne Lesperance.

Honorees included student-athletes who earned All-Conference accolades, Chi Alpha Sigma Academic Society inductees, conference Coach of the Year honors, regional award recipients and teams that have won conference championships during the 2022-2023 year. Longtime NEC athletics contributor Charlie Helfrich was also recognized for his many years of service to the program.

After the Pilgrims recognized their outstanding senior class with their annual Senior Salute, the highlight of the evening came with the announcing of the Departmental Awards, voted on by NEC coaches and athletics staff.

The Scholar-Athlete Awards were presented to the outstanding female and male graduating senior-athletes who have the highest grade-point averages. Senior goalie Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) of the women's ice hockey team and junior forward Anthony Cinato (Warren, Mich.) of the men's ice hockey team were recognized for their exceptional excellence in the classroom.

The Rookie of the Year Awards were presented to the most outstanding female and male rookie athletes who have demonstrated exceptional athletic performance and accomplishment during their respective first years of intercollegiate competition. Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Bronowicki (Corona, Calif.) of the women's soccer team and freshman guard Jasen Stovall (Tampa, Fla.) of the men's basketball team were both recognized after seasons that saw them both claim New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Year awards.

The Athlete of the Year Awards were presented to the most outstanding female and male athletes based on their exceptional athletic performance and accomplishments. Senior forward Ericka Pratt (Miami, Fla.) of the women's basketball team and senior goalie Andrew Kormos (Milford, Mich.) of the men's ice hockey team were recognized as the best the Pilgrims had to offer on the court and the ice.

The Pilgrim Pride award was present to the student-athlete who best exemplifies pride, integrity and respect; and demonstrates outstanding academic and athletic excellence. Senior midfielder Jake Natola (Hudson, N.H.) of the men's soccer team was recognized as the student-athlete who set such an outstanding standard.

Finally, the NEC men's soccer team was recognized as the Team of the Year after a season that saw them win the NECC Championship and reach the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

Congratulations to all our student-athletes on an outstanding season!
