Giesler Propels Softball in Lesley Sweep

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College softball team swept visiting Lesley University for the first time since 2019 in their New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) double-header on Thursday afternoon at Old Concord Road Field in Henniker, New Hampshire. The Pilgrims shutout the Lynx in game one, 10-0, before prevailing 11-1 in game two.

TOP 'GRIMS
  • Freshman centerfielder / shortstop Grace Giesler (La Mirada, Calif.) posted another outstanding performance, going four-of-six at the plate with an inside-the-park grand slam and six total runs batted in. The rookie's triple in game two gave her eight in 28 games on the season, tying her for second in the nation as of press time.
  • Graduate third baseman Destiny Helmedach (Middlefield, Conn.) went three-of-four on the day, with two RBI.
  • Senior pitcher Naomi Medrano (Escondido, Calif.) picked up her first of the season in game one, allowing just two hits and no runs in five innings.
  • Freshman pitcher Houstyn McConaghy (Lincoln, R.I.) improved to 4-2 on the season as she allowed just four hits in five innings in game two.
  • Freshman left fielder Amaya Rodriguez (Indio, Calif.) went two-for-two with a two-RBI single up the middle in game one.
  • Senior right fielder Jasmin Alvarado (Spring Valley, Calif.) posted three hits on the day.

UP NEXT
  • NEC is back on the field on Saturday when they host Eastern Nazarene College in a critical NECC matchup. Game one is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
  • Lesley plays their next game at Mitchell on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
