Men’s Lacrosse Dominates Lions on Senior Day

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's lacrosse team won big against visiting Eastern Nazarene College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on Saturday afternoon at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore attacker Thomas Norton led all 'Grims in scoring with seven goals with four assists. All goals of which had happened in the first three quarters, including NEC's first goal of the game with 37 seconds left in the first quarter.
  • Senior attacker Sam Crary gave the 'Grims a great boost of energy by scoring five goals with the first coming in at 12:53 in the second quarter. Along with that Crary dished out a team-high five assists.
  • Senior midfielder Devon Saeger had a season high with four goals including five assists. His first goal came at 2:20 in the second quarter.
  • Freshman midfielder Nathan Hawkins had a career-high game for NEC by giving them three of their 29 goals. The first goal came in at 7:50 in the third quarter.
  • Junior midfielder Kyle Hamilton chipped in two goals for the 'Grims with his first coming at 5:31 in the second quarter.
  • NEC continued their scoring hot-streak with a goal each from junior midfielder Joey Olsen and senior long-stick midfielder Jake Seccareccio. Their goals were scored at 6:24 in the third quarter and 2:15 in the fourth quarter respectively.
  • The Lions were led by sophomore attacker Jamar Griggs as he gave ENC four of their six goals in the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC's sophomore goalkeeper had five saves for the day.
  • In a blowout fashion in scoring, the 'Grims also out-shot the Lions 72-26.
  • NEC had also won the face-off battles by 20-12.
SENIOR DAY
  • Prior to the game, the New England College men's lacrosse program and athletics department recognized this year's senior class as part of senior day. Crary, Saeger and Seccareccio were joined by Nick Dorain and Alex Rust in being honored by coaches, teammates, family members and fans for all of their accomplishments at NEC both on and off the field. Although their time with the program may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the 'Grims family.

  • NEC is back on the field on Wednesday, April 19, when they play at Wheaton College (Mass.) in non-conference action, with the game starting at 4:00 PM.
  • ENC plays their next game at home against Mitchell College on Wednesday, April 19, with the game starting at 8:00 PM.
