Lyons Surge Past Men’s Lacrosse

NORTON, Mass. – The New England College men's lacrosse team lost 15-6 at Wheaton College in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Nordin Field in Norton, Massachusetts.

STANDOUTS
  • The Lyons took an 11-1 lead into half-time before the Pilgrims put in a stronger second half.
  • NEC sophomore attacker Thomas Norton (Mansfield, Mass.) led the 'Grims with two goals and two assists.
  • Wheaton senior attackman Robert Sullivan (Newton, Mass.) netted a career-high six goals and added an assist to lead the Lyons.
  • NEC junior midfielder Thomas Doe (Windham, N.H.) posted one goal, one assist and five ground balls.
  • NEC senior attacker Sam Crary (Newburyport, Mass.), senior midfielder Devon Saeger (Chester Springs, Penn.) and junior midfielder Joey Olsen (Mansfield, Mass.) each found the back of the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC sophomore goalie Connor Almstrom (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied 20 saves on the day, his highest total in more than a month.
  • Wheaton sophomore goalie John Drew (North Andover, Mass.) came up with five saves for the Lyons.
UP NEXT
  • NEC is back on the field on Saturday when they travel to Mitchell College in a 1:00 p.m. game.
  • Wheaton plays Babson on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
