HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College baseball team lost a pair of games against visiting Mitchell College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on Saturday at Laurie Cox Memorial Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.
GAME 1
Score: Mitchell College 4, New England College 0
Records: Mariners 23-4, 7-0 NECC | Pilgrims 8-15, 0-5 NECC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a pair of scoreless innings for both teams, the Mariners broke through in the third inning putting up two runs aided by NEC miscues.
- Mitchell would add two more runs in the top of the fourth inning when sophomore first baseman Bo Yaworski (Brooklyn, Conn.) hit a two-run home run to deep right field to go up 4-0, the eventual final score, over the 'Grims.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Senior second baseman Bryce Worth (Southington, Conn.) went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles.
- Despite the loss, NEC out-hit Mitchell 4 to 3.
- Senior Wyatt Cameron (Salisbury, Vt.) took the mound for the 'Grims and threw his fifth complete game of the season, going seven innings while allowing three hits, three earned runs while striking out seven.
- Mitchell's senior starting pitcher Ryan Solimine (Danbury, Conn.) threw seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts while getting the win.

Score: Mitchell College 13, New England College 1
Records: Mariners 24-4, 8-0 NECC | Pilgrims 8-16, 0-6 NECC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mariners got on the board quickly in game two with a three-run home run by senior outfielder Dougie DelaCruz (Uncasville, Conn.). Mitchell would add six runs in the next two innings.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, following a double by Worth, and a groundout to advance him to third, the 'Grims would score off a sacrifice fly by freshman infielder Rummy Ramos (Loiza, Puerto Rico).
- Mitchell put up four more runs in the final two innings to secure the victory, 13-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Worth had two more hits in game two, going 4-for-5 across both games. Meanwhile sophomore shortstop Brady Philibotte (Weare, N.H.) also had a two-hit performance.
- NEC's starting pitcher, sophomore Austin Hazzard (Weare, N.H.), went five and two-thirds innings while giving up seven earned runs and struck out six.
- Mitchell's strong pitching continued with senior starter Camren Varney (Manchester, N.H.) allowing just one earned run and four strikeouts over six innings of work.
UP NEXT
- NEC immediately returns to the field tomorrow, Sunday, as they host Castleton University for a doubleheader scheduled to start at 12:00 PM.
- Mitchell returns home to play their next two games tomorrow against Salve Regina, also set to start at 12:00 PM
