NASHUA, N.H. – The New England College baseball team got a nice consistent win at Rivier University in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at the Historic Holman Stadium in Nashua, New Hampshire.

HOW IT HAPPENED

NEC drew first blood in the top of the 1st as junior catcher/first baseman Lachlan Rees hit a double that had led to junior pitcher Brett Patnode getting a run.

The top of the 4th showed much excitement for the 'Grims, most notably as freshman outfielder Ryan Cote hit a home run to put NEC up 4-0. It was followed by two more scores as Patnode and senior outfielder Luca Giallongo both hit doubles leading to Giallongo and junior catcher JD Normand scoring the runs respectively.

Rivier had finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as freshman infielder Matt Labrecque hit a double leading to senior infielder Zachary White getting the run. That was followed by a far hit by freshman outfielder Owen Medlock giving Labrecque the score to make it 4-2 in favor of NEC.

The 'Grims were given an easy run as Normand was hit by the pitcher in the top of the 5th with the bases loaded, ultimately giving sophomore infielder Brady Philibotte the run.

NEC got another run inside the top of the 6th from Giallongo as Philibotte hit to the outfield where he got out and earned himself a sacrifice hit.

The 'Grims kept their hot scoring streak going in the top of the 7th as Cote scored off of Normand's double. Senior infielder Devin Parsons also hit a single which led to another Normand run.

In the top of the 8th, NEC's senior outfielder Patrick Hagerty scored a run off of a wild pitch.

The 'Grims capped off their ecstatic win as they earned two more runs from Philibotte and junior infielder Johnny Cannavo resulting from singles by freshman infielder David Spigel and Hagerty respectively giving NEC a 11-4 win.

NEC is back on the field on Saturday, April 15, when they take on the Mariners of Mitchell College in a double-header with the first game starting at 1:00 PM.
