GENEVA, N.Y. – The New England College men's ice hockey team fell to the defending national champions, Hobart College, 0-7, on Saturday at the Geneva Recreation Complex in Geneva, New York in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The top ranked Statesmen wasted little time before jumping out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Luke Aquaro (Yardley, Pa.) 5:36 into the game.
- Before the end of the first period, Hobart would score twice – with goals coming from Logan Gotinsky (Macomb, Mich.) at the 11:16 mark, and then Wil Crane (Littleton, Colo.) with just 51 seconds remaining.
- In the second, the 'Grims held the Statesmen scoreless for the first 19 minutes and change, but Hobart would capitalize on a power-play with a goal from Austin Mourar (Spring City, Pa.) with just 17 seconds to spare.
- The third period would see both Gotinsky and Aquaro net their second goals of the game, while Bauer Morrissey (Skaneateles, N.Y.) also got in on the action.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC senior goaltender Kai Tomita (Misawa, Japan) had a busy day in net, making 54 saves.
- Hobart sophomore Mavrick Goyer (Ste.-Sophie, Quebec) stopped 15 shots for the opposition.
- The Statesmen had 61 shots on goal, as opposed to 15 for the Pilgrims.
