HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's ice hockey team competed against visiting Johnson & Wales University on Friday at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first period proved to be a defensive battle the two teams found themselves in for the majority with neither side looking to give in up until 2:54 left the Pilgrims edged their way onto the scoreboard first with freshman forward Gunnar Sibley (Monticello, Minn.) scoring assisted by sophomore forward Kam Hellman (Macomb, Mich.) and sophomore forward Lukas Washco (Darby, Penn.).
- It didn't take the Wildcats much time to get themselves back within the game at 1:48 as they found themselves a goal credited to senior forward Brett Rickett (Portland, Maine) from sophomore Davis Boone (San Diego, Calif.) and freshman forward Chris Alexander (Los Angeles, Calif.) that wrapped up the period.
- Second period was like the pervious one with the defenses on both sides standing tall, but the Wildcats proved to have the advantage in that one as they scored the only goal of that period by sophomore forward Brendan Doyle (Stratham, N.H.) coming from Boone and sophomore forward Cam Martin (Georgetown, Mass.).
- Third Period was a bit more upbeat in tempo starting with the Wildcats making their presence known taking a two-goal lead at 16:58 with the help of senior forward Declan Dennehy (Duxbury, Mass.) assisted by freshman forward Harout Torosian (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) and freshman defenseman Ryan Walsh (Parkland, Fla.).
- The remainder of the period belonged to the Pilgrims as they crawled their way back into the game starting out with their second goal coming at the hands of Sibley passed up by freshman defenseman Martins Leps (Riga, Latvia).
- Washco (Darby, Penn.) brought life back into the NEC side having the game tying goal with only 1:03 remaining to the game that allowed for the team to fight on in the overtime period that concluded with neither of the two teams to manage to get one in the back of the net with it ending in a draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC freshman defenseman Cam Perez (West Hartford, Conn.) had an assist along with Hellman, Leps and Washco.
- NEC Sibley led the team in goals with two solidifying those as his first two on the season.
- NEC Washco recorded his first career goal.
- JWU Doyle, Dennehy, and Rickett were the Wildcats goal scorers on the evening.
- JWU Boone gathered two assists.
- Sophomore goaltender Danny Miscavish (Macomb, Mich.) secured 27 saves.
- Senior goaltender Jaxon Friedman (Kennebunk, Maine) finished the night out with 36 saves.
- Shots on goal were 33 to 39 in favor of the Pilgrims.
