Men’s Ice Hockey Shutout by Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New England College men's ice hockey team was held scoreless in a 0-2 loss at Skidmore on Saturday in Saratoga Springs, New York in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.  

THE BASICS

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Thoroughbreds secured the victory behind a pair of second period goals by senior Everett Wardle (Hewlett, N.Y.) and then Kevin Urquhart (Burlington, Mass.), with the former's being of the power-play variety.  
  • NEC sophomore goaltender Danny Miscavish (Macomb, Mich.) made 27 saves in his third start of the year for the 'Grims. 
  • Skidmore goaltender Tate Brandon (Irvington, N.Y.) tallied 23 saves in the senior's third shutout of the season. 
  • Thoroughbreds junior Danny Magnuson (Sunfish Lake, Minn.) paced all players with five shots taken, while Pilgrims junior forward Wyatt Andres (Brainerd, Minn.) led the game with four blocked shots. 
  • Skidmore outshot NEC 29 to 23 in total shots on goal.  
  • The two teams were nearly even in faceoffs won with Skidmore earning the slight edge, 26-24.  

UP NEXT 

  • NEC returns to the ice next Saturday at 1:00 PM when they face Colby College in the opening matchup of the Bowdoin-Colby Classic. 
  • Skidmore hosts Tufts University on Saturday at 1:00 PM as part of the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational.
