NORTHFIELD, VT- The New England College men's soccer team came up short on the road against the Cadets of Norwich University, 1-0, on Tuesday evening at Sabine Field in Northfield, Vermont.
THE BASICS
Score: New England College 0, Norwich University 1
Records: Pilgrims 7-5-4, 5-4-3 GNAC | Cadets 6-2-6, 6-1-5 GNAC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Things looked to be tightly contested in the early going up until the 22:38 mark with the Cadets connecting on a goal to get themselves on the board credited to senior forward Jami Lashua (Williston, Vt.) from sophomore forward Oleksandr Kharchuk (Ukraine) and junior defender Mason Reddington (Harper's Ferry, W. Va.). Going forward the score remained in favor of Norwich going into the half.
- Unfortunately, the defense of the Cadets proved to be stout even after the three corner kick opportunities the Pilgrims earned in the second half weren't enough. Along with four shots NEC fired off couldn't find the back of the net that ultimately ended with the Pilgrims dropping the conference matchup.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Junior goalkeeper Hayden Walker (Manchester, NH) concluded his evening with seven saves at the pitch.
- Graduate midfielder Cooper Ribaudo (Salem, NH) had one shot-on-goal.
- NU Lashua scored the lone goal during the match assisted by Kharchuk and Reddington.
