Field Hockey Loses First Game of the Season to Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The New England College field hockey team lost in their game against the Colby-Sawyer College Chargers one to two at Sally Shaw Veitch Track & Field. 
 

THE BASICS 
Score:                   New England College 1, Colby-Sawyer College 2

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The matchup was scoreless until Colby-Sawyer's junior Aleah Murph (Portland, Maine) scored off an assist from Emma Webster (Campton, N.H.) in the third quarter.

  • The Chargers would build on their lead in the fourth quarter from a goal scored by senior Aoife Daly (Harwick, Mass.) off a pass from Murph. The Pilgrims would score a minute later by first-year Martina Hill (Abbot, Maine) from an assist from senior Mikayla Vincent (Newburyport, Mass.). 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • NEC's graduate student goalie Jackie Mountford (New London, N.H.) recorded 10 saves with a .833 save percentage. 

  • The 'Grims out shot CSC in the first quarter eight to four but were outshot for the remainder of the game 24 to 13. 

  • New England's senior Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.) and graduate student Giuliana Kevlin (Laconia, N.H.) lead the Pilgrims with four and three shots each. 
     

UP NEXT 

  • NEC will be back in action on Thursday hosting Anna Maria College at 7:00 pm. 

  • Colby-Sawyer will host Dean College at 12:00 pm on Saturday.
