HOW IT HAPPENED
- Down 1-0 late in the second quarter, NEC senior midfielder Mikayla Vincent (Newburyport, Mass.) took control, scoring her 13th goal of the season to tie it up going into halftime.
- With 7:19 to go in the third, NEC senior forward Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.) – the NECC's leading scorer this season – gave the Grim's the 2-1 lead with her 18th goal of the season.
- With the Terriers still looking for the equalizer with 6:08 to go, the Pilgrims were unwilling to settle. Vincent found Chin with a pass and the senior forward finished for the insurance goal for a 3-1 lead. That would hold up for the final score, sending NEC to their first-ever NECC championship final.
