NEWPORT, R.I. – The New England College field hockey team won 2-1 at Salve Regina on Tuesday at Gaudet Field in Newport, Rhode Island in nonconference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The scoring got kicked off 2:34 into the second quarter by Pilgrims' sophomore midfielder Meaghan McCamish (Warwick, R.I.) who found the back of the net, collecting her third goal of the season.
- Salve Regina responded early in the third quarter with a goal of their own when freshman Georgia Costello (North Easton, Mass.) scored her team-leading eleventh goal.
- New England College would retake the lead on a game-deciding goal by senior midfielder Lilli McCormack (Dexter, Maine) with 1:40 left in the third quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Graduate goalkeeper Jackie Mountford (New London, N.H.) finished the game with nine saves along with three in the fourth quarter to hold onto the victory for NEC.
- Salve Regina senior goalkeeper Casey Febus (Souderton, PA) ended the game with eight saves of her own.
- Despite the loss, Salve Regina outshot NEC 16-12.
- NEC now leads the all-time series between the two schools 21-6.
UP NEXT
- NEC hosts Thomas College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m in a NECC conference matchup. The Pilgrims will recognize their senior class prior to the game as part of Senior Day.
- Salve Regina faces off against Roger Williams on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in their last regular season game of the year.
