THE BASICS
Score:                    Husson 5, New England College 2
Records:               Pilgrims 9-6, 2-3 NECC | Eagles 8-5, 5-0 NECC

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Eagles struck first just 4:05 into the game when junior forward Teagan Blackie (Old Town, Maine) scored her third goal of the season on a putback off a shot from freshman forward Maddie Perkins (Winthrop, Maine) after a mad scramble in front of the Pilgrims' net to put the visitors up 1-0.
  • The hosts found the answer just three and a half minutes later when NEC senior forward Drea Chin (Laconia, N.H.) found the back of the net off an assist from graduate defender Renee Bouchard (Swanton, Vt.) for her conference-leading 16th goal of the season. Chin entered Saturday ranked 19th in the nation in points per game.
  • Just 1:58 into the second quarter, Husson would retake the lead off a goal from senior midfielder Katie Perkins (Winthrop, Maine), her fifth score of the season.
  • With 8:38 to go in the first half, Chin found senior defender Alivia Proulx (Londonderry, N.H.) who scored the equalizer as the teams went into halftime tied at 2-2.
  • Midway through the third quarter, Husson again took control of the game with two goals in rapid succession from sophomore midfielder Allison Drew (Ossipee, N.H.) and senior forward Adelle Foss (Farmington, Maine) to go ahead 4-2 entering the final stanza.
  • In the fourth, Katie Perkins scored her second goal of the game to put it away for the Eagles.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC freshman goalkeeper Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.) entered the game in relief and stopped five shots in just twenty minutes for the Pilgrims.
