HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College Softball team picks the sweep in the doubleheader against the Mariners of Mitchell College in New England Collegiate Conference action, at Old Concord Field Road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One – New England College 5, Mitchell College 1
New England College got on the board in the bottom of the first, as Emily Gagne and Chanel Welch scored on a Mitchell error. The Mariners responded in the top of the second, as Jossette Madison hit a solo homerun to cut the deficit to 2-1. NEC regained a two-run lead, as Monia Andrade scored a Gagne single.

The Pilgrims were able to plate a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, as Gagne scored on a double steal before Welch scored on a Destiny Helmedach single back to the pitcher.

Taylor Barbour pitched a complete game, as she struck out 10, while she scattered three hits over seven innings.

Game Two –New England College 9, Mitchell College 0 – 5 Innings
After not scoring in the first inning, New England College struck six times in the bottom of the second. Rachel Senechal started the scoring with a bases-loaded single. Gagne singled to the pitcher, as NEC went up 2-0. Welch and Helmedach had back-to-back singles, before Destiny Cardona capped off the inning with a two-RBI double, making it 6-0.

New England College scored three more times in the bottom of the fourth to pad their lead to 9-0.

Emily Farone picked up the complete-game shutout, as she struck out four while allowing just two hits.
