Destiny Helmedach scored on a Jill's error. In the third,
Sarah Ferguson drove in one, with a double to left field, before
Jasmin Alvarado cleared the bases with a triple.
In the fourth, Helmedach drove in three, with a home run, before Alvarado scored two more with a double to center.
Emily Gagne drove in another run for the Pilgrims, as
Monica Andrade cross the plate on the play. Helmedach finished off the scoring for NEC with a single in the fifth.
Taylor Barbour went the distance for the Pilgrims, as she struck out nine while allowing just three hits.
Game Two Adrian College 6, New England College 5Helmedach carried her big bat over into game two, as she began the game with a solo home run. Adrian responded with a solo shot off the bat of Lauren McCulligh, and Hailey DeChalk doubled in a run, giving Adrian the 2-1 lead.
In her next at-bat, Helmedach hit her third long ball of the day to tie the game up at 2-2. The game would not remain tied for long, as Mikayla Clay drove in three runs over the next two innings to put Adrian up 6-2.
In the bottom half of the fifth,
Rachel Senechal hit a double to left field, getting NEC within three (6-3). In the sixth, Alvarado doubled home Ferguson before Senechal drew a bases-loaded walk to get within one (6-5). In the bottom of the seventh, the Pilgrims would get the game-tying run in scoring position but were not able to capitalize.
Inside the Numbers - Today was the first time the NEC has played either Northland College or Adrian College.
