Box Score BOSTON, Mass. The New England College softball team will be competing in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) postseason tournament. The six team tournament started on Tuesday with a single elimination game with the lower four seeds facing off, before a final four double-elimination tournament hosted by Eastern Nazarene College. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the Division III softball tournament later this month. The top two seeds in Eastern Nazarene and New England College are first-year members of the NECC while Lesley University will look to cement their ninth NECC Championship.

-The Pilgrims broke the program record for wins in a single season after sweeping Elms College in their regular season finale.
-NEC enters the NECC playoff as the second-seed, having tied with Eastern Nazarene College atop the standings. Eastern Nazarene won both games of the regular season meetings which gave the Lions the top-seed.
-The Pilgrims are riding a 15-game win streak headed into the championship weekend. This is the second double-digit win streak on the season for NEC as they previously won 12 consecutive games early in the season.

In the championship round, a loss to Newbury College set up a winner take all single game which the Lynx won, 3-0, to be named the NECC champs. However, they fell to Babson College (4-0) and Framingham State (4-2) in the NCAA DIII Regionals.

-The Nighthawks earned the final seed into the NECC playoff tournament and are the sixth-seed.
-Newbury finished the first month of their season with a 3-13 record. However, they opened up NECC play with a split doubleheader with Dean.
-Their longest win streak of the season was four games with doubleheader sweeps over Bay Path University and Southern Vermont College.
-They enter the playoff tournament on the back of a doubleheader sweep of Mitchell College.
-They upset Becker College by an 8-7 score on Tuesday to earned a spot in the double-elimination portion of the tournament.

2018: wins over Elms College (3-2) and Lesley University (12-4) put the Nighthawks into the winner's bracket finals before losing to Becker College (4-3) and then to Bay Path University (8-4) in the loser's finals to eliminate them from the playoff.
