Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FL. The New England College softball team closes out their Florida Trip riding a six-game winning streak, following a pair of wins over the University of Mount Union and Bates College at Sleepy Hollow Sports at the PFX Experience.

How it HappenedGame One New England College 13, Mount Union 8For the third consecutive game, NEC struck in the first inning. New England College plated three runs, started with an RBI single from Destiny Helmedach. The Raiders would get on the board in the bottom of the first, as Brooklyn Hellman scored on a ground out.
The Pilgrims continued their fast start, by plating four more runs in the second inning, mainly due to a two-RBI triple off the bat of
Jasmin Alvarado. Chanel Welch made it 8-1 in the top of the third, after a run-scoring single.
Mount Union responded in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs of their own, but
Emily Nelson got those runs back for New England College, as the freshman doubled home two runs. The back-and-forth games would continue in the bottom of the fourth as Savannah Miner hit an RBI double to right center field.
After NEC put up two more runs in the top of the fifth, pushing their lead to eight (12-4), the Raiders cut into the deficit after plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Shawnie Clark would single home Aibhlin O'Connor to make it 13-8.
Taylor Barbour pitched all seven innings for the Pilgrims, striking out seven.
Game Two New England College 3, Bates 2The Bobcats were the first team to strike in game two, as they plated two runs off of an RBI single and double steal. New England College tied the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth. Clark drove in Nelson with a single, while
Daelyn Ross scored on a ground out to the first baseman.
With the game tied at two, the Pilgrims came to bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. Alexa Scribner led off the inning with a single, before advancing to third on an error by the pitcher. New England College would walk-off after Helmedach reached on an infield single.
Emily Farone went the distance for the Pilgrims, striking out three while scattering 12 hits.
Inside the Numbers - This was the first meeting against Mount Union, but the second time playing Bates College. The two teams have now split the results.
- Against the Raiders, New England College drew seven walks. That is the most walks that they drew since they drew 12 against Pine Manor on April 20, 2017.
