Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FL. The New England College softball team extended their winning streak to four games, following wins over Elizabethtown College and Houghton College at Hancock Recreational Complex at the PFX Experience.

How it HappenedGame One New England College 14, Elizabethtown College 2 (5 Innings)The Pilgrims exploded to start the game, as they put up five runs in the top of the first inning. The lead would expand in the second inning with a solo home run, off the bat of Jasmin Alvardo to center field.
The Blue Jays got on the board in the bottom of the second as Brinley Schmidt singled home two runs with a single to left field.
New England College exploded for eight runs in the top of the fifth. Rachel Senechal kick-started the inning with an RBI single to left field. Yesenia Dominguez matched Senechal with a RBI single of her own. Alexa Scribner reached on a fielding error, scoring Senechal. Alvardo drove in a pair prior to Destiny Helmedach, Julia D'Andrea,
Emily Nelson, who each drove in a run of their own.
Taylor Barbour went five innings, striking out two but did not allow an earned run.
Game Two New England College 9, Houghton College 7New England College continued to strike early by putting up a crooked number up in the first.
Izzabella Phelps drove in a two, with a single to right center field. After the Highlanders scored once in the bottom of the second, the Pilgrims plated four runs in the third inning.
Houghton cut the deficit down to four at the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly, but NEC responded in the fourth as Scribner scored on a groundout before Helmedach hit a solo home run to right center field.
The Highlanders would not go quietly, as they scored five runs in the fifth with four straight singles to get within one. Phelps would put the game away for New England College, as the freshman drove in Alvarado with an RBI single.
Phelps went 3-for-3 in game two, including three RBIs and one run scored.
Inside the Numbers - This was the first two meetings between the two schools, the Pilgrims now lead the all-time series against both schools 1-0.
- Game one marked the first time this year that NEC had eclipsed 10 runs in a game.
- In back-to-back games, New England College set a new season high for hits. They had 11 in game one, before having 14 in game two.
