Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn. The New England College softball team runs their winning streak to 10 games, following their sweep over Mitchell College in their New England Collegiate Conference debut, Saturday afternoon.

How it HappenedGame One New England College 9, Mitchell College 1New England College jumped out to the quick start in game one, as
Jasmin Alvarado drove in a pair of runs with a single to left center field. The NEC lead would grow, as the Pilgrims exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Emily Nelson would score on a throwing error and Yesenia Dominguez scored on a ground out, making it 4-0 before NEC had three straight singles to make it 8-0. The Mariners would plate one run in the bottom half of the inning, as Alex Lopez singled to left center field, but the Pilgrims tacked on another run in the top of the fifth inning.
Taylor Barbour picked up the win, as the sophomore pitched 5.0 shutout innings, with eight strikeouts, and limiting the Mariners to just three base runners.
Game Two New England College 13, Mitchell College 0The NEC offense continued over from game one, as the Pilgrims struck in the first inning.
Daelyn Ross led things off with an RBI single to left field. In the second inning, Alvarado doubled home a pair, while scoring on an error by the Mitchell second baseman.
In the third, Ross crossed the plate with Gabriella Marcheschi reached on an error. In Ross' next plate appearance, she launched a grand slam to blow the game open, 9-0 NEC. In the fifth inning, the Pilgrims tacked on four more runs, making it 13-0.
Emily Farone collected the win after going all five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out one.
Inside the Numbers - This was the first time that these two schools have faced each other in softball, NEC now leads the all-time series 2-0
- Ross now leads the team with three home runs and 17 runs batted in.
- Including the two games today, the Pilgrims pitching staff has allowed five hits or fewer in eight games, they are now 7-1 in those games.
