The 1974 men’s ski team was the first NEC team to compete in an NCAA Tournament receiving their bid by virtue of their fourth-place finish at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Associate Division I meet.  The Pilgrims were one of four teams representing the east in the 15-team NCAA Tournament held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. 

The team finished nationals 10th overall compiling 31 points, including top finishers Carl Sack who recorded an eighth-place finish in the downhill and Charlie Tartre who scored 16th in the ski jump event.  Other members of the 1974 team that competed at nationals included Chris Barrows, Jim Collins, Jeff Jacobs, Piers MacDonald, Carlton Merriam, Kurt Scherer, Alex "Lex" Scourby, Hjalmar Syverson and Paul Zinck.
