New England College Field Hockey Head Coach Carly Sweeney has announced the hiring of Victoria Shaffer as the new Field Hockey Graduate Assistant in May of 2020.

"We are thrilled to have Tori join the Pilgrim family this fall," said Sweeney. "She will bring a new and fresh perspective to the field hockey program and our athletic department. Her knowledge and love of the sport will help us grow to our full potential. We can't wait to get Tory on the field in August."

Shaffer spent the past two years as the Assistant Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse Coach at the University of the South in Sewanee Tennessee.

"I'm very thankful for this opportunity to continue coaching while also furthering my educations," said Shaffer. "I'm excited to be a part of a growing program that Coach Sweeney developed."

A four-year letter winner with the St. Lawrence University field hockey program, she earned Liberty League Honor Roll honors her senior year, as she scored eight goals to lead the team. In 50 career games with the Saints, she recorded 10 goals on 39 shots and two game-winning strikes.

While at St. Lawrence, she served as a volunteer of On My Team 16 in Syracuse, N.Y. An organization dedicated to supporting children with cancer, she assisted with event planning and supported fundraising efforts. She also helped the support of the organization on social media.

After graduation, she served as an intern with the Northeast Athletic Conference (NEAC), where she worked with the annual athletic awards and supported the commissioner at the annual Presidents' Council Meeting.

Shaffer earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. in May 2018.
