HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College Men's Lacrosse suffered a conference loss to the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a 16-3 defeat to the Blue Jays.
Freshman Owen Taylor (Lanesborough, Mass.) led the Pilgrims with two goals as junior Matt O'Rourke (Concord, N.H.) added one.
USJ struck first just 37 seconds into the game before O'Rourke tied it seven minutes later. After going down 3-, Taylor added two consecutive goals to tie the game at three. The Blue Jays went on a 13-0 run to end the game as they came away with the victory.
O'Rourke assisted on both of Taylor's goals as Taylor assisted on O'Rourke's goal. Junior goalie Nate Finn (Norwood, Mass.) made 22 saves for the Pilgrims while leading the team with five ground balls, along with senior Ethan LaHaye (Grantham, N.H.) and junior Jakub Rusina (Frydek-Mistek, Czech Republic). LaHaye also caused two turnovers. Graduate Evan Zonderman (Dracut, Mass.) won 12 faceoffs.
The Pilgrims are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Boston to take on the Emmanuel College Saints at 7:00 PM.
