Sophomore Riley Davis (Weare, N.H.) added a goal midway through the frame before Hornsby netted her second of the night late in the quarter, giving the Pilgrims a 4-0 advantage after one.
Gilchrist struck at the 10:49 mark to extend the lead, and senior Mackenzie McDonald (Boscawen, N.H.) followed with back-to-back goals, including one on a free-position attempt to make it 7-0. McDonald added another goal to push the lead to eight before the Beavers broke through, as Bree Griffin scored with 18 seconds left to send the 'Grims into halftime with an 8-1 lead.
Gilchrist opened the second half with a goal, and McDonald added her fourth goal of the game three minutes later. Freshman Camryn Coutts (Gilford, N.H.) connected with Gilchrist, who scored, while being a man-down, stretching NEC's lead to 11-1 heading into the final quarter.
The Beavers continued to battle down the stretch, with Ruby McMinis converting a man-up free-position attempt and Miah Coffin adding another late goal to cut into the lead. Griffin scored her second of the game in the final minute, but Coutts found Gilchrist for a goal with 46 seconds remaining, marking Gilchrist's 200th career point and sealing the 12-4 victory.
