Football Falls at Home to Western New England

HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College football team suffered a 49-0 defeat to Western New England on Saturday, falling to 2-6 on the season.

While the Pilgrims offense struggled to get going in the shutout defeat, the NEC defense forced three turnovers as the team's top highlights of the afternoon. The 'Grims picked off three different Golden Bear quarterbacks as senior Kaevryel Madison (Concord, N.H.) tallied two interceptions – tying the team-lead with four this season, while sophomore CJ Taylor (Manchester, N.H.) made the other.

Senior Hollis Jones (Bow, N.H.) led the unit with 13 total tackles. Sophomore Justin Draper (Windsor, Vt.) and freshman Antonio Hebert (Goffstown, N.H.) each chipped in with eight total stops. On the offensive end, sophomore Spencer Brien (Plaistow, N.H.) found the most success with 31 receiving yards on three grabs.

The Golden Bears had a big afternoon running the ball, rushing for 328 yards and scoring four of their seven touchdowns on the ground. Their special teams contributed two scores with both a punt and kickoff return going for touchdowns.

Next up for the Pilgrims, the team will travel to Endicott College on Saturday, November 7th for a 12:00 PM conference matchup against the nationally-ranked Gulls.
