NEW LONDON, Conn. - The New England College men's soccer team earned a point Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon, playing to a scoreless 0-0 draw against Mitchell College.
The Pilgrims created several early scoring opportunities with graduate Anthony Aguiar (Gilford, N.H.), senior Chase Gurtowsky (Torrington, Conn.), and freshman Ethan Zuniga (Wallingford, Conn.), each sending shots just wide of the net. Mitchell looked to break through late in the half, but senior goalkeeper Matt Guzman (San Bernardino, Calif.) turned aside a scoring opportunity to keep the match scoreless. Freshman Carson Leibeck (Willsboro, N.Y.) nearly put the Pilgrims on the board before halftime, but his attempt sailed wide as the teams entered the break tied 0-0.

Zuniga responded with a chance of his own, but Mariners goalkeeper Jessie Jenkins made the save to keep the match scoreless. Both teams continued to create opportunities throughout the second half, but neither team could find the back of the net. Senior Parker Clark (Pittsfield, N.H.) had a late chance to break the deadlock, but his shot missed the net as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
