HENNIKER, N.H. -The New England College men's soccer team concluded its 2026 campaign on Tuesday afternoon, falling to Norwich University, 3-1, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
The Cadets tested the 'Grims early, unleashing multiple shots that either sailed wide of the net or were turned aside by the NEC defense. Norwich threatened to break the deadlock late in the opening frame, but senior goalkeeper Matt Guzman (San Bernardino, Calif.) came up with the save to keep the match scoreless. Both teams battled through the final 15 minutes of the half, but neither could find the back of the net. The teams headed into the break locked in a scoreless tie, with the Cadets holding a 5-0 shots advantage.
NEC continued to create scoring opportunities in the second half, as senior Jack LaBroad (East Kingston, N.H.) put a shot on target that was stopped by Norwich goalkeeper Victor Kalorin. Moments later, sophomore Amit Solomon (Wilton, Conn.) fired a shot just wide of the net. The Cadets broke the deadlock midway through the half with a goal from Daniel Hennessey before Jacob Salisbury extended the visitors' lead minutes later. The 'Grims capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity late in the contest, as senior Erik Corbin (Marlborough, Mass.) found the back of the net to cut the lead to one. Norwich responded five minutes later with its third goal of the afternoon. The Cadets looked to add to their lead, but senior goalkeeper Kyle Butts (Lee, N.H.) made several stops in net, but the visitors went on to secure the 3-1 GNAC victory.
Corbin netted his fifth goal of the season, while Guzman recorded one save in the opening half. Butts added three saves in relief during the second half.
