Women's Soccer Falls in GNAC Opener

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The New England College women's soccer team (2-1-0, 0-1-0 GNAC) suffered their first loss of the season against GNAC opponent Saint Joseph (1-2-0, 1-0-0) on Saturday.

The Blue Jays struck first almost seven minutes in as Zoe Zappone found the back of the net off a pass from Alana Picard. More pressure from Saint Joseph brought a 3-0 lead into the half. Three quick goals from USJ and a lightning suspension finished the game as the Blue Jays earned their first conference win.

Freshman Amanda Roy (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) led the Pilgrims with two shots on goal and senior Hollie Bomba (Seymour, Conn.) made six saves in the game.
