The teams kept their offensive pressure high early in the second quarter as both teams had several opportunities to take the lead but were unable to convert on penalty corners. The score would remain at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The Pilgrims wasted no time starting the third quarter as sophomore Kira Geddes (Bow, N.H.) would weave past Raider defenders and score the second goal of the game to take a 2-1 lead. The 'Grims would continue to apply the offensive pressure late in the quarter but were unable to extend their lead at the end of the quarter.
The 'Grims continued to stay on the attack firing shots on target, but Raider goalkeeper Lily Gifford made crucial saves to keep the score at 2-1. Senior Cristina Manzi (Peapack, N.J.) would split the defenders and send the ball past the goalkeeper to extend the Pilgrims lead to 3-1. The 'Grims would maintain their offensive pressure and picked up the 3-1 victory.
The 'Grims return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Wenham, Massachusetts to take on the Scots of Gordon College in a non-conference match up with a 4:00 PM start.
