FITCHBURG, Mass. - The New England College men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season with a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday to the Fitchburg State Falcons.
The Pilgrims fall to 4-1 on the season while the Falcons earned their first win in their 2025 campaign to jump to 1-2-1 and 0-1-0 in the MASCAC.
Senior Wyatt Flibbert (Windham, Maine) scored his second goal of the season 25 minutes into the first half after the Pilgrims drew a penalty kick to give NEC a 1-0 lead.
Two minutes later, FSU's Sam Amara netted his first goal of the season to kickstart the run for the Falcons. Anthony Oliveira-Dal and Justin Job both scored to five Fitchburg State the 3-1 victory.
Junior Lukas Tate (South Jordan, Utah) saved seven of the ten shots he faced in the loss. Flibbert, junior Chase Gurtowsky (Torrington, Conn.), and freshman Cooper Foster (Ashby, Mass.) all recorded shots on goal.
The team opens play in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as they host Regis College with an 11:00 AM start time on Don Melander Field at New England College.
