HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College Department of Athletics has announced that junior Anthony Aguiar (Gilford, N.H.) of the NEC eSports team and senior Ryan Waring (Gilmanton, N.H.) of the NEC men's golf team have been named the Pilgrims of the Month for May 2025.
Aguiar becomes the first member of the NEC esports program to be named Pilgrim of the Month, after he most recently led the school's Rainbow Six Siege team to an NECC Division VI Nationals Championship earlier this month. Aguiar, who captained the winning group of five, helped the #7 seeded Pilgrims to a magical postseason run with wins over #2 seed Holy Cross, #3 seed Northern Iowa, and #1 seed Central Methodist. In the championship match, Aguiar led the team with 55 eliminations and 15 assists. This success came on the heels of Aguiar helping NEC Valorant win their third consecutive NECC Division VII in April and earning the top seed in the corresponding national tournament.
Waring earns Pilgrim of the Month status for the second time this season, making a lasting impact in his lone season for the 'Grims. After helping lead the team to repeat as GNAC Champions, Ryan capped off an impressive season with a team-leading performance at the NCAA Championships held in Rochester, New York earlier this month. On Day 1, Waring posted a 75 (+3) which was tied for 53rd among all individuals after 18 holes. He led the team again on Day 2 as he supplied a steady 79 (+7) to finish tied for 81st of the 225 golfers. While they failed to make the cut, Waring and the 'Grims ended the season with eight first place finishes en route to their best season in program history.
