NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England College baseball team fell to Nichols College at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts, in a non-conference meeting on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Bison jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, freshman catcher Jaken Pellerin (Manchester, N.H.) responded with his first collegiate home run to begin the top of the second.
- In the third, graduate infielder Johnny Cannavo (Weymouth, Mass.) drove in junior outfielder Harold Martinez (Wethersfield, Conn.) to give the 'Grims a temporary 2-1 lead. Nichols would answer with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to re-take the lead.
- Pellerin would lead off the top of the fourth with his second hit of the day – a single through the left side. He would score on an RBI double by junior Yeri Ramos (Loiza, P.R.). The hosts would again respond, this time with a three-run bottom-half.
- Things would fall apart in the fifth as the Bison plated 14 runs in the inning on nine hits. They would score seven more runs in the eighth for an eventual final score of 28-4.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Nichols' freshman pitcher Tim Hudson (Raleigh, N.C.) was credited with the win while NEC's senior pitcher Liam Bruskewicz (Granite Springs, N.Y.) was dealt the loss on the mound.
- The Bison had four home runs on the day including a fifth-inning grand slam by Liam Flynn (Charlestown, R.I.) - one of two home runs by the junior catcher as part of a seven RBI day.
- Julian Galvan (Torrance, Calif.) put up a four-hit day for the hosts, scoring three runs.
- Pellerin went 3-for-3 with a home run, double, and a single.
- Martinez went 2-for-4 with a pair of hits for the Pilgrims, driving in a run and scoring another.
- On the day, NEC was outhit, 21-8. The 'Grims had four errors to the Bison' zero.
