HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College men's ice hockey team lost 5-4 against visiting Albertus Magnus College on Saturday evening at Lee Clement Arena in Henniker, New Hampshire in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons, coming off a loss to the Pilgrims on Friday night, opened the game with goals from Albertus Magnus senior forwards Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) and Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, Alberta). Trailing 2-0, NEC answered with a goal from junior defenseman Graham Padgitt (St. Charles, Ill.), his third goal of the season, off an assist from sophomore forward Gunnar Sibley (Monticello, Minn.).
- The start of the second period was all 'Grims. NEC freshman forward Egor Osipik (Minsk, Belarus) continued his outstanding rookie season scoring his ninth goal of the year just 2:40 into the frame on a power play, assisted by senior forward Jesper Tarkiainen (Naperville, Ill.) and freshman defenseman Andrew Ralston (San Jose, Calif.), tying the game at 2-2.
- Then with 7:11 left in the second, the 'Grims got their first lead of the game when Sibley scored his ninth goal of the season on a power play, assisted by Tarkiainen. Albertus Magnus would answer, however, scoring two more goals before the end of the period, both of those scored by sophomore forward Kyle Dann (Windham, N.H.). The Pilgrims found themselves again trailing by one going into the final intermission.
- Albertus Magnus freshman defenseman Andrew Van Antwerp (Petoskey, Mich.) gave the Falcons an insurance goal 8:45 into the third, putting the visitors up 5-3.
- Osipik scored the final goal of the game with just 36 seconds left, assisted by Sibley and Tarkiainen.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NEC freshman goaltender Anthony Beaulieu (Lawrence, Mass.) tallied 18 saves for the Pilgrims.
- Albertus Magnus freshman goaltender Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Penn.) finished with 21 saves for the Falcons.
SENIOR DAY
- Prior to the game, the New England College men's ice hockey program and the NEC athletics department recognized this year's senior class as part of senior day. The class of Tarkiainen, senior forward Wyatt Andres (Brainerd, Minn.), senior forward Ike Taraszewski (Wayzata, Minn.), senior defenseman Connor Lefkof (Frisco, Texas) and senior defenseman Mattias Thorén (Stockholm, Sweden) were honored by coaches, teammates, family members and fans for all of their accomplishments at NEC both on and off the field. Although their time with the program may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the 'Grims family.
UP NEXT
- NEC now awaits official word of their seeding in the upcoming NEHC Championship Tournament. The first round is scheduled for Saturday, March 1st.
