HENNIKER, N.H. - Playing the first of five straight non-conference games, the Pilgrims suffered a 5-0 loss at the hands of Trinity College on Friday evening at Lee Clement Arena.
The Bantams, winners of five of the last nine NESCAC conference titles, wasted little time before taking advantage of some Pilgrim mistakes, capitalizing on two power play chances in the first period. James Barbour netted the first goal 5:32 into the opening frame while Ty Broad followed with a goal with 9:34 left in the first.
After a scoreless second, Broad tacked on another goal for Trinity 4:32 into the third. Later, the 'Grims appeared to claw within two goals on a score from sophomore Egor Osipik (Minsk, Belarus), however the goal was nullified due to goalkeeper interference.
The visitors would score twice more in the third period as Joseph Harney found the back of the net with 6:53 left and Broad would secure the hat trick with 4:03 to play. Sophomore Anthony Beaulieu (Lawrence, Mass.) ended the game with 39 saves and five goals permitted, while Trinity goaltender Devon Bobak had 21 stops.
The team continues out-of-conference play on Tuesday, December 9th, as they host Fitchburg State at 7:00 PM.
