HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College field hockey team closed out the regular season on Tuesday as they fell to the Endicott 4-0.
The Gulls controlled the tempo early in the first quarter, as Reagan Hicks fired a shot that was denied by senior goalkeeper Makenzie Anderson (Antrim, N.H.). The Gulls broke through in the eighth minute to take 1-0 lead. Just minutes later, Lily Johnson connected with Riley Perkins, who buried the second goal to put the Gulls ahead 2-0 as the first quarter came to a close.
The Gulls kept up their offensive pressure, but junior goalkeeper Annie Raduazzo (Amherst, N.H.) stood tall for the 'Grims making three consecutive saves. The Gulls found the back of the cage late in the quarter, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Gulls maintained control on the offensive end, testing the Pilgrims defense with a series of shots on goal, but Raduazzo remained solid in net. In the 44th minute, the Gulls broke through again, extending their lead to 4-0.
The visitors continued to apply the offensive pressure in the final quarter of action, testing the Pilgrims defense. Junior Conley Ladabouche (Barre, Vt.) came up with a key block to deny a Gulls opportunity, while Raduazzo remained tough in net, turning away several more shots to finish the night with 10 saves. Endicott College secured the 4-0 victory over the Pilgrims.
The Pilgrims earned the #4 seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs and will host Lasell on Saturday with a 1:00 PM start.
