Women’s Soccer Drops GNAC Match to Raiders, 4–1

HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College Women's Soccer team was defeated by Rivier University Tuesday afternoon.  

Both teams came out aggressive in the first period with shots on goal taken by both sides. Rivier ultimately was able to get on the board first with a goal by Samantha Franks.  

Late in the first, off a failed corner kick. The Pilgrims were able to rush the ball down the field led by senior Isyss Scott (Bakersfield, Calif.). With an assist by graduate Shelby McBain (Indianhead, Md.) was able to find sophomore Abbey Keyes (Dedham, Mass.) in front of the goal and beat the goal to the back of the net. Going into halftime with the score 1-1. 

Starting the second half, the Raiders came out firing with multiple shots on goal and scored in the 54th minute, taking the lead 2-1. Then they advanced their lead a few minutes later, making it 3-1.  
The Pilgrims were outshot 34-11 in their loss; senior Hollie Bomba (Seymour, Conn.) made 16 saves in the game. Freshman Amanda Roy (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) and senior Mia Loewenberg (Milford, Conn.) both had two shots.  

The team is on the road at Emmanuel College on Saturday October 18th at 12:00 PM.
