HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College women's soccer team fell to Lasell University on Saturday Afternoon 5 - 1 in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference Match.
The Lasers of Lasell were able to take control of the game early. With a break-away goal from Camdyn LaMarre in under the first two minutes of the period. After the goal, the Lasers kept possession until graduate Shelby McBain (Indianhead, Md.) was able to make the first shot for the Pilgrims which went high of the goal. After the back and forth first half, Lasell attacked again with a goal by Ava Champagne. Making the score 2-0 headed into halftime. Senior Hollie Bomba (Seymour, Conn.) faced 11 shots and recorded six saves.
The start of the second half began with both teams battling. Senior Mia Loewenberg (Milford, Conn.) was able to get two early shots off one high and the other saved by the Lasers goalie. After multiple failed corners taken by the Lasers, they were able to strengthen their lead with a goal making it 3-0.
Late in the second period, with 12 minutes left. A foul was called on Lasell, sophomore Madison Bowman (Coventry, Vt.) took the free kick from the left side of the net, passed to freshman Amanda Roy (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) who was on the right side of the net. She then passed to sophomore Michelina Follis (Saugus, Mass.) who was in front of the net and beat the goalie to find the back of the net. Allowing the Pilgrims to get on board, making the score 4-1.
The final score was 5-1.
The Lasers outshot the 'Grims 26-11 with 20 of their shots on goals. Bomba made 15 saves. Loewenberg and sophomore Abbey Keyes (Dedham, Mass.) both led with shots on goal with two.
The Pilgrims will be back in action Tuesday at 4PM against the Rivier Raiders on Don Melander Field.
