Women’s Lacrosse Concludes 2024 Season

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's lacrosse team caps off their season in a loss against visiting Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday evening at Don Melander Field in Henniker, New Hampshire.

THE BASICS
Score: Emmanuel 18, New England College 7
Records: Saints 13-4, 11-0 GNAC | Pilgrims 7-10, 4-7 GNAC

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Looking to stay undefeated, Emmanuel came in blazing by scoring the game's first six goals, all of which came in the first quarter. NEC would stop the opposing run by notching in a couple of scoring plays to end the first period of play. The Saints would open up quarter number two by continuing their momentum with an astounding 10-0 run that bled into the third period. With the deficit looming large, the 'Grims would make a big push by compiling a 5-2 run to end the game 18-7 in favor of Emmanuel.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • NEC senior goalkeeper Carleigh Knotts (Dover, Del.) would end up with five saves on the evening.
  • Emmanuel junior goalkeeper Isabella Thomas (Miami, Fla.) would hold firm for her team's win while racking up 13 saves.
  • The 'Grims were led by senior attacker Nathalie Antigua (North Brunswick, N.J.) and sophomore attacker Mackenzie McDonald (Boscawen, N.H.) with McDonald recording two ground balls and a caused turnover.
  • It was a milestone day for NEC's sophomore attacker Meadow Gilchrist (Stamford, Conn.) -- who is finishing only her second season -- hit the 100th point plateau with the 'Grims third goal that came with 2:30 remaining in quarter number three.
  • The Saints shared the wealth the whole game but their leading scorer, sophomore midfielder Madeline Write (Mattapoisett, Mass.) was just short of a double-hat-trick where she connected on five goals, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.
  • Emmanuel also got a contribution from sophomore attacker Livia Fedele (Spencerport, N.Y.) who earned herself a hat-trick on the evening with three goals and a ground ball.
  • Despite the loss, NEC led in total shots taken with a 31-27 advantage.
  • The Saints were 16/26 on clears while the 'Grims went 8/14 on the attempts.
