BOSTON, Mass. – The New England College baseball team lost 13-1 at UMass Boston in their second game of the season on Friday afternoon at Monan Park in Boston.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 'Grims scored their sole run of the game in the top of the eighth when NEC junior-transfer third baseman Tyler Fenton (Wilmington, Mass.) doubled to drive in senior first baseman Lachlan Rees (Adelaide, Australia) for his first RBI since coming to Henniker.
- NEC sophomore pitcher Brendan Hill (Lincoln, R.I.) was a bright spot on the mound for the Pilgrims during a tough day, pitching a shutout sixth inning with two strikeouts.
- Nine different Pilgrims each had a hit at the plate for NEC.
- UMass Boston junior catcher Mike Meagher hit a grand slam in the bottom of the third for the Beacons, going one-for-one with two walks.
- UMass Boston freshman shortstop Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.) went two-for-four with a double and three runs batted in, crossing home plate himself twice.
UP NEXT
- NEC is back on the field on Wednesday when they open their Spring Break schedule in Myrtle Beach with a split double-head against Penn State Berks with the first pitch scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
- UMass Boston plays their next game at home on Saturday when they play host to Endicott College at 11:00 a.m.
