PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The New England College men's wrestling team were on the mats at Rhode Island College on Saturday at the Murray Center in Providence, Rhode Island in conference action.

TOP 'GRIMS
- NEC junior John Lafferty (Woburn, Mass.) at 141 lbs. and junior Boburjon Berdiyorov (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) at 149 lbs. got the things off to a great start for the pilgrims earning wins by major decision gaining the 8-0 lead early on.
- Afterwards NEC junior Zach Soda (Burlington, Mass.) at 165 lbs. and sophomore Kyle Gora (Hudson, N.H.) at 174 lbs. followed up their performances with solid outings of their own getting their hands raised by decision for Soda's while Gora's was for a technical fall.
- The anchormen followed up with two victories that made things a more closely contested outing with the team score at 16-15 still in favor of New England College.
- Their potential comeback faltered down the stretch as NEC junior Marcos Colon (Haverhill, Mass.) at 285 lbs. and graduate Chris DeRosa (Billerica, Mass.) at 133 lbs. gathered the final two victories for the Pilgrims that secured the team the first win on the day, 25-19.
Bristol, R.I. – The New England College men's wrestling team were on the mats for their second outing against Roger Williams University on Saturday at the Field House in Bristol, Rhode Island in conference action.

TOP 'GRIMS
- NEC Lafferty at 141 lbs. and Berdiyorov 149 lbs. picked up right where they left off capturing the first two wins that put the team in front, 12-0.
- After RWU managed to win the next match, Soda at 165 lbs. followed up that pervious bout to help keep the Pilgrims on top as the junior won by major decision, 16-5.
- The wins began to pile on for the Hawks as they tacked on a decision and technical fall wins that positioned themselves with a score of 19 to the Pilgrims 16.
- NEC Colon at 285 lbs. pin fall and DeRosa at 133 lbs. major decision victories played a pivotal role towards the end of the afternoon outing as their wins cemented their teams conference appearance with a record of 2-0 on the day defeating RWU, 26-22.
