Babson Park, M.A. – The New England College men's ice hockey team was on the road for their final game of the regular season at Babson Skating Center on Saturday in Babson Park, Massachusetts in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

THE BASICS
Score:                    New England College 3, Babson College 4
Records:               Pilgrims 4-20-1, 2-15-1 NEHC | Beavers 14-9-2, 12-5-1 NEHC

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Beavers found their mark in the first period at 10:37 coming from sophomore forward Egan Schmitt (Schuylerville, N.Y.) assisted by sophomore defensemen Will Holland (Charlette, N.C.) and sophomore forward Mike Stevens (Massapequa, N.Y.).
  • NEC got themselves back into the mix of things responding with goal early on wasting no time scoring just 2:34 into the second period with the help of freshman forward Shane Adler (Dallas, Tex.) from freshman forward Dylan Duckson (Mahtomedi, Minn.) and junior defenseman Connor Lefkof (Frisco, Texas) evening things up on the scoreboard.
  • Shortly after the 'Grims managed to find the back of the net retaliating quickly in efforts to stretch out their lead with this one scored just 2:06 after the previous 'Grims goal scored. This one came at 17:26 awarded to senior forward Tim Lopez (Fort Collins, Colo.) assisted by sophomore forward Kam Hellman (Macomb, Mich.) and senior defenseman Zach Nelson (Hudson, Mass.).
  • The final period of play made for a Beavers surge to commence as they scored two consecutive goals that put them back out in front in this conference matchup at this point with 12:07 remaining.
  • Lopez continues to make a difference on the offensive end scoring his second goal of the game with the feed from Hellman that ties things up once again providing the 'Grims with another chance to take home a win.
  • The Beavers found a way to ice the game as they scored the final goal with only 39 seconds left leaving NEC unable to find a way to capitalize in such a short amount of time that results in a conference win for the Beavers on the evening.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • NEC Lopez had himself a stellar game with his two goals that provided the 'Grims the chance to stay within the action. This game cements a season high for the senior.
  • NEC senior goaltender Kai Tomita (Misawa, Japan) gathered 25 saves in net.
  • BC freshman goaltender Mason Rosado (Weddington, N.C.) collected 32 saves.
