PAXTON, MASS. - The New England College men's soccer team suffered a tough loss on the road in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday that resulted in a 1-0 loss in favor of the AMCATS of Anna Maria College at Caparso Field in Paxton, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was a strong defensive stand from both teams keeping things close with neither side looking to budge nor give in this important conference game. Shots occurred more frequently for the AMCATS recording seven opposed to NEC's three. NEC sophomore goalkeeper Lukas Tate (South Jordan, Utah) played his part allowing no goals to be scored, the 'Grims and AMCATS couldn't put one in the back of the net by the conclusion of the half, 0-0.
- In the first few minutes of actions that commenced in the second half at 53:48, things began to pick up for the AMCATS. AMC senior forward Rubelsi Moran (Holden, Mass.) was bestowed a penalty kick that positioned Moran for the perfect opportunity to fire the ball in the net to give the AMCATS a 1-0 lead
- From there on both defenses continue to battle ultimately not giving the 'Grims many opportunities to even things up. Due to the stout defensive play displayed by Anna Maria allowed for them to maintain the lead by the end of the game earning the conference victory over NEC on the day.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- AMC Moran scored the lone goal on the day earning his 10th goal of the season.
- NEC Tate wrapped up his day at the pitch recording four saves as three were gathered in the first half.
- AMC graduate goalkeeper Valter Santiago (Norwood, Mass.) finished with four saves.
- Fouls hurt the 'Grims in this outing facing six and one of them being crucial that gave the AMCATS a free kick that led to their goal, AMC had one foul.
- Shots were a closely contested factor of the game but the AMCATS had the upper hand taking 10 compared to NEC's eight.
- Corner kicks were in favor of the AMCATS as they earned five and the 'Grims had three awarded to them.
