HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College women's volleyball team formally announced their schedule for the 2023 season on Friday.
The 2023 season marks NEC's first season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). The Pilgrims are coming off three consecutive appearances in the championship finals of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tournament.
NEC will open their season on September 1
st and 2
nd with three matches at the Elmira Opening Quad City Tournament. The 'Grims will then host the Badgers of Northern Vermont University Johnson on Tuesday, September 5
th in a 6:00 p.m. Other matches of note are the teams' October 7
th contest at Mitchell College in a rematch of last season's NECC semifinals, and their October 28
th home date against defending GNAC Champion Johnson & Wales University, scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
The Pilgrims return several key players from last year's squad, including senior middle-blocker
Tatiana Sampson (Kailua, Hawaii), already the school's all-time leader in career blocks while fifth-year senior outside hitter
Renee McBride-Rogers (Midwest City, Okla.) looks to improve further on a breakout 2022 season.
