HAMDEN, Conn. – The New England College baseball team swept both ends of their double-header at Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday evening at Rochford Field in Hamden, Connecticut, winning the first game, 16-2, before game two ended in a 25-8 victory. The Pilgrims run their record to 7-11.

GAME 1 – NEC 16, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 2
  • The 'Grims posted their highest run total of the season in just six innings and eight hits. That included 12 runs in the top of the fourth inning, as the entire lineup saw two plate appearances apiece. NEC scored nine runs off walks and hit-batsmen with the bases-loaded.
  • Junior catcher JD Normand (Auburn, N.H.) led off the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the second, then drew a bases loaded walk in the fourth. An infield RBI single later in the fourth gave him his third RBI of the game.
  • Senior pitcher Alex Perez (Leominster, Mass.) struck out eight Falcons in five innings of work to pick up the win.
  • Senior centerfielder Luca Giallongo (Mt. Shasta, Calif.), senior designated hitter Tyler Gendron (Milford, N.H.), sophomore left-fielder Kyle Dobrie (Mastic, N.Y.), sophomore shortstop Brady Philibotte (Weare, N.H.) and freshman right fielder Ryan Cote (Goffstown, N.H.) were each credited with a pair of runs batted in apiece.
GAME 2 – NEC 25, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 8

  • Philibotte was dominant at the plate, going two-for-four with a home run and six runs batted in.
  • Junior designated hitter Brett Patnode (Weare, N.H.) went three-for-three with five RBIs and two doubles.
