Softball Drops Two to Mariners in NECC Action

NEW LONDON, Conn.  – The New England College softball team lost both ends of their New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Sunday double-header at Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, by scores of 8-4 and 9-1.
STANDOUTS
  • NEC graduate third baseman Destiny Helmedach (Middlefield, Conn.) had a two-RBI groundout in the bottom of the fifth of game one, giving her 122 runs batted in for her career and tying the NEC school record.
  • NEC senior centerfielder Jasmin Alvarado (Spring Valley, Calif.) finished the day with three hits including a pair of RBI triples.
  • NEC freshman shortstop Grace Giesler (La Mirada, Calif.) went two-for-three with a stolen base in game two, continuing to show why she's one of the fastest rookies in the conference.
UP NEXT
  • NEC is back on the field on Tuesday when they host Rivier University in a 3:00 p.m. double-header.
