Vikings Take Two From Softball

SALEM, Mass. – The New England College softball team lost both ends of their Friday double-header at Salem State University at Alumni Field in Salem, Massachusetts.

TOP 'GRIMS
  • NEC graduate shortstop Destiny Helmedach (Middlefield, Conn.) continued her assault on the Pilgrim record books, finishing with three hits on the day including a home run, two doubles, three runs scored and and two runs batted in.  
  • Freshman centerfielder Grace Giesler (La Mirada, Calif.), last week's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, went two-for-four at the plate with two runs scored in the opener, with one stolen base.
  • Senior first baseman / designated player Taylor Maher (Piscataway, N.J.) posted three hits with two runs plated.
  • Sophomore pitcher / right fielder Olivia Olson (North Haven, Conn.) struck out three Vikings in game one, then went two-for-three with a two RBI single in game two.
  • Freshman first baseman / designated player Bella Kieran (Salem, N.H.) finished with three hits including two doubles.
UP NEXT
  • NEC is back on the field next Friday when they are scheduled to host the University of Maine Farmington in a 2:00 p.m. double-header.
