Score: New England College 0, Mitchell College 7
Records: Pilgrims 3-8 (0-2, NECC) | Mariners 10-3 (2-0, NECC)
HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first game of the doubleheader, Mitchell was able to keep NEC in check, holding them to no runs and just two hits in the first of two seven-inning games.

The Mariners put up three multi-run innings and were led by senior outfielder Dougie DelaCruz (Uncasville, Conn.) who went 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Mitchell starting pitcher Ryan Solimine (Danbury, Conn.) allowed just three baserunners in seven shutout innings while striking out 11 in the win.

NEC starter Wyatt Cameron (Salisbury, Vt.) took the loss, allowing six earned runs with five strikeouts in six complete innings, helping to preserve the bullpen for the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mitchell found offense early and often, putting up 12 runs over the first three innings. They would go on to add four more runs in the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning, the 'Grims would prevent the shutout on a pinch-hit RBI single by junior infielder Lachlan Rees (Adelaide, Australia) to score sophomore outfielder Kyle Dobrie (Mastic, N.Y.) who had reached on a double.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Senior outfielder Luca Giallongo (Mt. Shasta, Calif.) went 2-for-4 with a double while Dobrie went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

In this one, Mitchell was led by senior Matt Falk (Enfield, Conn.) who went 5-for-5 with a home run and seven RBIs.

Senior starting pitcher Eddie Kaftan (Old Lyme, Conn.) was credited with the win for the Mariners as he threw five innings of one-run ball.

For the 'Grims, senior Alex Perez (Leominster, Mass.) started and went 2.2 innings with eight strikeouts while falling to 1-2 on the season. Juniors Ryan Hughes (Northwood, N.H.) and Seth Balch (Hartland, Vt.) both made scoreless relief appearances.

NEC is back on the field on Sunday for a doubleheader at Anna Maria College set to start at 1:00 PM.
