THE BASICS
Score: William Smith College 6, New England College 1
Records: Herons 2-2-0, 2-0-0 NEHC | Pilgrims 0-4-0, 0-2-0 NEHC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In William Smith's first goal, senior forward Mackenzie O'Neil (Wellesley, Mass.) was able to swipe the puck away from NEC and dump it to herself as she took advantage of the 1-on-1 opportunity with 1:39 left in the first period.
- It only took 30 seconds after the Herons first goal for the 'Grims to chip one in on their own as sophomore defender Jordan Pond (Gardner, Mass.) was able to create some space and sling it in after graduate forward Cassie Kelly (Alexandria, Minn.) assisted it to her off a scuffle.
- William Smith came into the second period all riled up as they scored two goals in less than three minutes, with the first of which came 1:52 in as junior forward Lauren Legler (Beaconsfield, Quebec) struck in a quick goal off a behind-the-net pass from junior defender Annabel Ziskin (Smithtown, N.Y.).
- The third goal and the second within those three minutes for the Herons with 15:18 remaining in the second period as junior forward Kayla Ketchabaw (Rye Brook, N.Y.) scored after falling down momentarily on a breakaway from a faceoff in the opposite end while O'Neil was credited with an assist.
- William Smith's Ziskin scored a goal this time around after the Herons were passing around until the opportunity was presented with 13:24 remaining in the third period.
- The Herons added to the scoring spree with another goal shortly after the fourth one with 11:27 remaining in the game as sophomore defender Allie Cimis (Hartford, Vt.) was able to get the rebound off an NEC save and flip it in.
- William Smith capped off their blow-out win as senior defender Ava Cornforth (Milton, Mass.) scored off a straight shot where sophomore forward Kelly Howe (Deerfield, Mass.) was right there for the assist.

- NEC graduate goaltender Hannah Podvey (West Caldwell, N.J.) had her work cut out for her after a career day in saves the day prior as she ended this game with 41 saves, making it 99 total in the two-game stretch.
- William Smith junior goaltender Erin Murray (Hanover, Mass.) did not have much company on her end for the majority of the first and last period but did come away with 16 saves in their victory.
